FAQs

View MoreWhere can I park?

We are lucky enough to be able to provide patient parking for our clients. It is accessed through the back of the building off Grosvenor Lane. Just before Grosvenor Lane meets Young street there is an entrance to the right which leads into our building. You will see signs to MDT dental surgery and 4 paws vet. It is the second last driveway in Grosvenor Lane. Proceed up to the top level and you will see our labelled parking spots on the right. The surgery can be entered from the car park level.

View MoreWhat will happen at my first appointment?

If you have not been to see us before we need to get to know you so we can plan for your dental needs appropriately. You can fill in a new patient form on-line or pick one up from the office at your appointment. If you are in pain we want to get you comfortable as soon as possible so we will take what records we need to diagnose your problem and present your different treatment alternatives. Our main aim is to get you pain free at this appointment. If you are attending for an initial check-up we will take time to gather all the information and records that we need (often a detailed history, examination and very likely x-rays) so we can assess your dental needs for now and the future. Please let us know if you would really like a clean at this initial appointment.

View MoreHow much will my first appointment cost?

It does depend very much on what you have done but it can range from just a simple consultation ($67) to a full complex examination with basic x-rays ($195). If you would like your teeth cleaned at this first visit, this will add to the cost, but often at the first appointment if the cleaning required is any more then basic, it is preferable to do this at another appointment. If you are concerned about cost please discuss this with your dentist before any treatment. We have hicaps capability which means you can claim from your private health insurance at the time of your appointment. We realise that dentistry can be an added expense but we strive to make sure we give value for money without cutting corners in patient care, highest standards in sterilisation while offering an extensive range of services.

View MoreCan I come and just have my teeth cleaned?

Yes but it is advisable to have your teeth examined by the dentist every 6 months. For some people with minimal dental problems then 12 monthly maybe appropriate for an examination. We have hygienists available that are university trained and who will focus on the health of your gums and carry out a thorough cleaning, they are not however trained to pick up other dental problems.

View More What are veneers?

Veneers are porcelain or resin covers for the front of your teeth. They are used to improve shape, colour, length and sometimes position. They do require some alteration to the tooth surface in most cases. No drill veneers have very limited application. Veneers can be placed on single teeth, pairs or all of the front teeth. We have been placing veneers for 20 years with excellent and predictable results. It is important to have your teeth assessed to make sure veneers are the right option for you. All our technical work and materials are Australian made by highly skilled technicians or ceramists. We work closely with our technicians to make sure we achieve the optimum result for your dental health and cosmetic excellence.

View MoreWhy do I need a crown?

Crowns are specially made and custom fitted. They fit around and over your own tooth structure, they seal and strengthen the tooth. They are advised on teeth that have

  • Very large fillings
  • Teeth that have been root treated

All our crowns are made by ceramists and technicians within Australia with Australian materials, Less expensive crowns are generally made out of Australia to substandard criteria, using cheaper materials and by laboratories with less attention to detail.

Crowns can be made of gold, porcelain veneered over gold or all porcelain. Different teeth and patients have different requirements and these need to be discussed with your dentist at your consultation appointment.
